sometimes in life....

you realize that you don't blog as much as you said you would. gosh, i'm ever the optimist when it comes to new ideas. then after a while, if it's not something i HAVE to do, i start to slack. i really have a problem with that. ugh. plus, the season is changing, and i don't get many requests for hats anymore. spring is a b*t*h. i don't know how many more projects i can do in the spring and summer that would be as entertaining as the fall and winter projects. i mean, i can still make the Keepcakes and legwarmers and any little project, but who should i be making these for?!? it's not like i need a hundred legwarmers (even though i love them!!). i don't know what to do. i really don't enjoy springtime, i mean there's just not much to do. i was really enjoying staying in and snuggling up with Zach and crocheting!



anybody need me to make them something? i'm dying for a new project!!!

my hands were so cramped up from crocheting, i took a couple days off. i have some pictures of my latest projects though. i made some for my sister's birthday, and the legwarmers were just for me. i'm excited to get back to the hook and yarn tonight, cause i'll be able to start the Care Bear hat.

past midnight and sleep is nowhere in sight...

i have insomnia.

There. i said it. i have the hardest time sleeping. it's nice on one side: i have plenty of time to watch Golden Girls and Saved by the Bell while i crochet.... but on the other side, it kinda makes me crazy. i mean, i stay up until 3, 4 or even 5 every night- even if i have taken a sleeping pill at 10:30-11:00!!! so that's mostly why i can get so many projects done on a daily basis- i owe it all to insomnia. i don't know whether i should talk to my doctor about it. i don't know what he can help me with...besides telling me the info i already know. oh well.


currently, i'm working on making some leg warmers- just for fun! haha. they are so cheesy and waaaay retro, but that's the best part about them! hopefully i can post the pictures tomorrow, if i can finish them tonight. i think the other project i want to start is a Care Bears beanie. i already have the idea in my mind. i don't like to use other people's patterns, unless i have to or if it's something i've never made. but for pretty much everything i've made, i just wing it. that's always worked for me when it comes to creating things. art, clothes, and even when it comes to dying and cutting my hair. i just like to pretend like i know what i'm doing, go for it and usually it comes out the way i planned. haha.


the only creation i've got for today's post is an older one, but i forgot to put it up! my niece Saige came to my house and demanded i make hats for her Barbie and her horse, named Horse.

i guess the other day when my niece asked her mom (my sis Jill) if i would come hang out with them, Jill told her "well, i don't know. i don't know what she's doing tonight." and Saige replied, "she's making hats!!!" haha. she's so funny. but she knows what she's talking about, cause that was very true!

i'm off to finish the leg warmers and start the Care Bears beanie.

to market, to market...

i feel like doing some thrift store hunting! i don't know what for exactly, but i know i can go into a thrift store and come out with all kinds of finds for my crafts, decor and closet! i think i'll go in to the D.I. and have a look-see. i haven't posted in a few days, simply out of boredom. i sometimes go through phases of online boredom, and i neglect my few sites i like to post on. sorry about that. but i'm sure everyone goes through the 'internet drought'. it's just like there's so much of EVERYTHING that there's almost too much to know what to do, so i end up not doing anything. besides that i've been really busy making stuff for someone special. and after i give them to said person, i can post the pictures. i wouldn't want the surprise to be ruined!

cause i'm kind of a little bit of a liar. but you know what?!? sometimes you get caught up doing stuff and don't think about posting the pictures you wan,t before it's too late. then you start procrastinating. over and over. but i just haven't taken new pictures yet, that's in store for today. i'm just such a perfectionist when it comes to taking pictures, i want them to be just right! so i'll get them done today, and get 'em up tonight!

i'm trying to decide what to crochet today...... i mean, i have a hat 70% done, but i'm just not sure of the color scheme yet, i mean i like it. but i don't know if i LOVE it. ah well. i will probably still finish and post it. i want to do another Keepcake too, any ideas for colors???


i'm glad i got to spend the morning with my favorite little munchkin, my niece Saige. she's a blast. we had fun coloring with these amazing neon markers that really pop on this special paper. it even had white, so i drew a bunch of Hello Kitties for her- and i drew kitty faces on our doctor masks we wore- she was still sick and we didn't want to pass germs. we just had a mellow day watching Despicable Me (twice in a row!) and some of Toy Story 3, in which she gets to 'be' both girls- Barbie and Jessie- and i get to be Buzz. jeeesh. i always have to be the boy. so i've started protesting and go for the animal role if there aren't two girls.

i've got to say, Despicable Me was hilarious. i recommend for those who haven't seen it.

i'm listening to the song Gloria, hence the title. well, to be completely honest, Zach has it on while he's lifting. i think he's gotten more into 80's music because of me. it's a great gift to give someone the gift of great music! haha. i'm having a great day today, so far. Zach decided he's going to make us chili tonight. i mentioned yesterday i was craving it. so he told me we could go to Chili's or have chili. and since we went to Chili's, tonight i get the other! he's such a sweetie.

the other awesome news i have is that my two friends, my sister Jill and best friend Katelyn started blogging, too! so we're the blogging babes now!

i'm just going to post a segment of hats every day. because i don't want this blog to be just a huge glob of pictures to sift through. i think it'd be best to do them bit by bit, so it's not too overwhelming. what do you guys think? i'm so lame at this, i don't really know what would be best!

i think i'm gonna go to Chili's for dinner (Zach wants to go out), so i guess i'll be on here again later!!! hopefully the migraine goes away, cause that'll just dampen my mood. Zach's dad, James is gone for a couple days, and since we live here at the house with him, we're gonna have the house to ourselves for PARTY TIME!!! and a migraine just won't do.

*These are just some of my first hats, i'll post more in the morning (as you can see it's way too late to still be up, but insomnia is part of my artistic flair!). my style has evolved a bit, mostly just with the quality of my work, and the detail and designs that i can do. but i've stuck to the original idea of my hats, which is trying to make unique, funky, stylish hats that fit the personalities of each person i make them for! people, places, movies and music are the inspiration for anything i create!
